Painting from a photograph has eliminated the need for long and tedious sittings, which tend to produce stiff poses. I paint my portraits from reference photographs using a grid technique to square off and copy the photo and paint a square at a time.

This technique gives a very accurate and proportioned painting. I use black and white acrylic paint on a store bought canvas.
